The Birbs (or lack thereof)

Birds hate me taking photographs of them. They make every attempt to scupper pictures. They’ll turn their backs on me at the last second and flash their backsides in a series of continuous shots, then fly off. Or they’ll hide behind the bird feeder. Case in point.

That’s just cheeky, to be perfectly honest.

Or they’ll be really demented-looking and not the type of bird you want to be showcasing. I have no idea what this Blue Tit has been through, but a prime example of the species it is not.

However, with the zoom on my SX40, a tripod (which needs repairing or replacing, as it seems a part is missing so it’s not as stable as I’d like), re-positioning a bird feeder, and a lot of patience, I did manage to get a few pictures from my bedroom window. Nothing exotic, but enough pics to know that the method kind of works. The quality, however, is a bit disappointing. I suspect if I want actual decent pictures of birds, then it’s going to require some more expensive kit than what I currently have.

Aside from the demented Blue Tit, there was a Robin who refused to be photogenic, and it was mostly sparrows, which is what we have below. The ones with the streaks on the eyes are House Sparrows, the one with the black chunk under its eye is a Tree Sparrow.
